Joey Alexander will be one of the Indonesian artistes at the opening ceremony of the 2018 Asian Games at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia, on August 18.
The 15-year-old Bali-born jazz pianist, who was nominated three times at the Grammy Awards, will share the stage with fellow Indonesian musicians GAC, Raisa, Ariel Noah, Anggun, Tulus, Via Vallen, Rinni Wulandari, Wizzy and Kamasean.
The likes of Rossa, Cakra Khan, Rian D'Masiv, Sheryl Sheinafia, Putri Ayu, Maruli Tampubolon, Edo Kondologit and Fatin will also be performing at the event, which is driven by its "Energy of Asia" slogan.
"We will showcase diversity to show that Indonesia is the energy of Asia," Wishnutama, the creative director of the Asiad opening ceremony, was quoted saying by Antara.
"Joey himself is an example of the radiating energy of Asia, especially of Indonesia, in the music industry, as he was nominated for Grammy awards at such a young age."
