Former NBA player Rasual Butler, wife Leah LaBelle die in car crash

Former NBA player Rasual Butler and his wife have died after crashing their car early Wednesday morning in Studio City, Calif., TMZ first reported.

Butler, 38, and wife Leah LaBelle, 31, were driving in their Range Rover when they lost control, hit a parking meter and crashed into a wall, causing their car to flip. According to the report, speed was a factor in the wreck.

The Heat selected Butler in the second round of the 2002 NBA Draft, and he played in Miami for three seasons. He also spent time with the Hornets, Clippers, Bulls, Pacers, Wizards and Spurs before retiring in 2016.

This past year, he played in Ice Cube's BIG3 League.

LaBelle was an R&B artist who came in 12th on "American Idol" in 2003. She signed with Epic Records in 2011 and released two singles.
