NSW Health is still waiting for a formal plan from the NRL as it bids to resume its season amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The NRL is aiming to restart on May 28 and reached an agreement with broadcasters on Friday.

But there is seemingly still work to do and New South Wales health minister Brad Hazzard said he was waiting for a formal plan from the NRL.

"There's been no formal plan put to New South Wales Health as far as I'm aware," he told a news conference on Saturday.

"There's been discussions taking place and the NRL are enthusiastically pursuing that agenda.

"If it can come to fruition and still keep all the players and the officials safe and everybody else who's within cooee of them, that's good, but I can't really comment at this point other than that level."

The NRL season was suspended last month due to COVID-19, which has killed more than 197,000 people worldwide.

Australia has seen more than 6,600 cases, including 79 deaths.
