The NRL is "not high on the list" to receive federal government assistance, Prime Minister of Australia Scott Morrison said.
Australian Rugby League Commission (ARLC) chairman Peter V'landys asked for government help on Sunday, with the NRL set to go behind closed doors from round two due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Like numerous other sports, rugby league is facing significant financial losses due to the impact of the coronavirus.
But the PM of Australia Morrison said there were too many other areas that needed the government's support.
"Obviously the NRL is not high on the list at the moment," he told 2GB on Monday.
Round two of the NRL season is scheduled to begin with a clash between Canterbury Bulldogs and North Queensland Cowboys on Thursday.
