England's Alex Yee won the first gold medal of the 2022 Commonwealth Games after taking the win in the men's triathlon on Friday.
The 24-year-old triathlete, who won silver at the Tokyo Olympics last year, was outside the top 10 after the 750m swimming course but he managed to close the gap in 20km road cycling before sealing the win in the 5km run.

With a total time of 50:34, he finished 13 seconds ahead of world number two Hayden Wilde, who was also given a controversial 10-second penalty for unclipping his helmet prematurely in the cycling stage.
Australian Matthew Hauser completed the podium with a time of 50:50.
Malaysia's Isaac Tan (01:02:58) finished 34th among 46 participants at Sutton Park, Birmingham.
