Kevin Love's latest injury could have been a lot worse.

The Cavs big man endured an elbow to the face and was forced to leave Clevaland's 98-79 loss to the Heat on Tuesday after experiencing concussion-like symptoms.

Miami center Jordan Mickey managed to knock one of Love's front teeth loose less than two minutes into the game, which led Love to leave for the locker room and miss the rest of the first quarter. Love eventually came back in the second quarter, but was re-evaluated at halftime and did not return to the game after showing concussion-like symptoms.

"The only update is, when he got hit in the mouth in the first half, we saw there was some blood coming from his mouth. I believe it was his tooth," Cavs acting head coach Larry Drew said after the game, via ESPN. "They took him back, and he came back out in the first half. After halftime we just made the decision to hold him out."

Love will be re-evaluated Wednesday morning to determine whether he needs to enter the NBA's concussion protocol. His status for Wednesday's game at the Hornets remains unclear.

"Obviously his production when he went out early, he tried to come back but wasn't feeling it," LeBron James told reporters. "Our rhythm was broken right from the beginning. … Not having Kev out there to kind of stretch the floor for us, that definitely hurt us.

"We're already kind of behind the 8-ball so we've got to start getting our minds set from Charlotte. We're going to learn from these mistakes, probably watch some film tomorrow on it, but we've got to get ready for Charlotte."

Love, 29, has already missed 21 games with a broken hand. He is averaging 17.7 points and 9.2 rebounds through 53 games this season.
