Lois Boisson, who enjoyed a breakout run at this year's French Open, saw her hopes of a maiden Wimbledon appearance dashed in the first round of qualifying.

Boisson achieved a fairytale run to the Roland-Garros semi-finals before losing to eventual champion Coco Gauff, rising to 65th in the world after starting the tournament as a 361st-ranked wildcard.

However, at the time of the cut-off for the main draw, the 22-year-old was outside the top 400, meaning she had to go through qualifying to secure a place at Wimbledon.

She fell in the first round, though, with Canada's Carson Branstine earning a 6-2 6-7 (1-7) 6-4 victory on Tuesday to set up a meeting with Bianca Andreescu.

Boisson was the top seed in qualifying but struggled in the first grass-court match of her career as she went the distance in a nearly two-hour-long match.
