Volha Mazuronak earned an incredible marathon win at the European Championships on Sunday, running for a large part of the race with her face bloodied.
The Belarusian suffered a nosebleed after half an hour, forced to continue with blood covering her face and hands until she was able to wash herself at a water station.

Mazuronak was untroubled by her peculiar look, though, and powered on to win in two hours, 26 minutes and 22 seconds.
There was more drama late on as Mazuronak took a wrong turn to bring Clemence Calvin into contention, but she was able to recover and edge her French rival by six seconds.
