Malaysia will face defending champions India in the men's hockey semi-finals at the 2018 Asian Games on Thursday after beating Oman in their final Pool B match.

Their 7-0 win on Tuesday at the GBK Hockey Field in Jakarta sealed their runners-up spot behind Pool B winners Pakistan.

In earlier Pool B matches, the Speedy Tigers thrashed Kazakhstan 16-2, Thailand 10-0 and Bangladesh 7-0, and lost to Pakistan 1-4.

Meanwhile, with five wins from five, India finished top of Pool A ahead of runners-up Japan.

For the record, Malaysia have only reached the men's hockey final once in Asian Games history back in 2010 when they lost to Pakistan.

In the previous Asian Games in Incheon, Malaysia finished fourth after losing 2-3 to hosts South Korea in the third-place match, while India beat Pakistan in the final.
