Only hours before Thursday's 3 p.m. ET NBA trade deadline, the Pelicans' conversations with the Lakers about Anthony Davis are "dormant," according to ESPN, which cites unidentified league sources.

The Lakers reportedly are not expecting to talk to the Pelicans at all on Thursday, the report adds, and New Orleans appears "content to let the clock run out" on a possible deal.

Davis' agent, Rich Paul, told ESPN in January the five-time All-Star would not sign an extension with the Pelicans and prefers to be traded.

The Lakers, Clippers, Bucks and Knicks are his preferred destinations, and he does not want to play in Boston. However, no matter his landing spot, he intends to test free agency in the summer of 2020, The New York Times reported.

Los Angeles made multiple offers to the Pelicans including a final one that featured two first-round picks, four players and the absorbing Solomon Hill's contract from New Orleans.

The Pelicans never made a counter offer to the Lakers, according to ESPN.
