Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) sealed their fifth consecutive Malaysian Super League season unbeaten at the Larkin Stadium with a convincing 3-0 win over Kelantan on Wednesday.

In their final home league match of the season, the Southern Tigers were hardly troubled by the Red Warriors, who played their first game under new president Bibi Ramjani Ilias Khan.

Mohammed Ghaddar almost opened the scoring against his former team from the penalty spot in the 10th minute, which was awarded following a handball infringement.

Khairul Fahmi Che Mat denied the Lebanon forward with a strong save, but the Kelantan goalkeeper was powerless nine minutes later as S. Kunanlan’s cross floated over him and found the back of the net.

Gonzalo Cabrera doubled the lead from close range in the 37th minute before Safiq Rahim scored from a 55th-minute free-kick to sweeten their title celebration after the game.

While the four-time league winners celebrated with a new trophy, the defeat left Kelantan just one place above the relegation zone after Melaka United overtook them with a 3-1 win over Perak.

After Shahrul Saad cancelled out Marko Simic’s opener at the Hang Jebat Stadium, Jeon Woo-young and Felipe de Souza netted late in the game to boost the 2016 Premier League champions’ survival chances, especially with results elsewhere favouring them.

11th-place Sarawak lost 3-0 to Pahang with goals from K. Christie Jayaseelan (two) and Kogileswaran Raj, while bottom-place Penang were beaten 2-0 by T-Team.

Fauzi Abdul Kadar and Asrol Ibrahim scored for the Titans to move further away from the relegation zone and, at the same time, effectively relegate the Panthers to the Premier League because the islanders are six points from safety and have an inferior goal difference of -24 with two games left.

Unlike them, PKNS no longer need to worry too much about their top-flight status after beating Selangor 2-1 at the Selayang Stadium with Shahrul Azhar Ture and Patrick Wleh scoring in between a Rufino Segovia strike.

The victory ensured another year for them in the Super League.

Meanwhile, in Alor Setar, Wan Zack Haikal's brace and a goal from Thiago Augusto Fernandes secured Felda United's 3-1 win over Kedah.

Ken Ilso Larsen netted a consolation for the home side.
