MLS Cup runners-up New York Red Bulls have announced the signing of Cameroon international and three-time Bundesliga winner Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.

The 35-year-old had been without a club after he was released from Bayern Munich at the end of the 2024-25 season in Germany.

Choupo-Moting comes with an impressive record, having won five league titles in the last six years with both Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.

His most profitable season at either club was 2022-23, in which he netted 17 goals in all competitions for Bayern.

He has also played for Cameroon at both the 2014 and 2022 World Cups, so comes with plenty of experience at the highest level.

Choupo-Moting joins the Red Bulls on a two-year contract as a Designated Player and will be aiming to help his side go one better in the 2025 season.

The New York Red Bulls made it all the way to the MLS Cup final in the 2024 season despite finishing seventh – the final automatic qualification spot – in the Eastern Conference.

They were eventually beaten by champions LA Galaxy, who claimed their first title since 2014.
