Taipei Open: Aaron Chia-Aaron Tai reach first final in second tournament

Aaron Chia-Aaron Tai have reached their first final after playing in just their second tournament as a pair.

The national men's doubles duo reached the Taipei Open men's doubles final after they beat home pair Chen Cheng-kuan-Liu Kuang-heng 24-26, 21-19, 21-16.

It was a thrilling victory from the Malaysians, who had to dig deep in all three games to find a way past their feisty opponents to secure the hard-fought win.

Chia-Tai will now go up against either a Japanese or Indonesian pair in Sunday's final.

Based on their performance in the semis, the Malaysians will be feeling confident of securing silverware in just their second outing as a pair.

Both men were comfortable switching positions from front to back court, eventhough Chia mostly marshalled the back court.

The younger Tai was also impressive with his attacking instincts by going on the offense each time he had the opportunity, and his sharp net instincts delivered the pair vital points.

Chia-Tai will be accompanied by national women's doubles Pearly Tan-M.Thinaah in the final, who beat their American opponents in straight games.

Tan-Thinaah needed only 36-minutes to overcome Jenny Gai-Francesca Corbett 21-15, 21-17 which pits them against Japan's Sumire Nakade-Miyu Takahashi in the final.

The last time Malaysia had two representatives in a World Tour final came at this year's Indonesia Masters final where all three Malaysians pairs won.
