Thailand Open: Frustration as Sze Fei-Izzuddin come within 2 points to final

Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin will be frustrated after coming within two points of reaching the Thailand Open final, but ultimately missing out.

The third seeded Malaysians crashed out in the semis of this Super 500 event following a 21-19, 20-22, 16-21 defeat against top seeds Chirag Shetty-Satwiksairaj Rankireddy.

Having won the opening game and clawed back two points to force deuce at 20-20 in the second game, the Malaysians had the momentum to win in straight games and score a huge psychological blow over their bogey opponents.

Instead, they made two unforced errors to concede the second game, and the Indian pair took that rhythm into the decider to come away with the big win.

This 82-minute loss means Goh-Izzudin have now lost eight times in 10 meetings against the Indians.

They also failed to reach their second final since winning the Indonesia Masters in February.

The Malaysians will have some time to regroup before they prepare for next week's Malaysia Masters.
