Tee Kai Wun’s illness due to food poisoning meant he and Man Wei Chong had to withdraw from the World Championships, bringing an end to their partnership.
Tee-Man were scheduled to play national team-mates Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik in the third round on Thursday, but had to concede a walkover after Tee was unwell.
The pair’s withdrawal from the world meet will spell an end to a five-partnership which saw them rise as high as fourth on the world rankings late last year.
During their spell together, Tee-Man won back-to-back Taipei Open titles in 2022 and 2023, as well as the Indonesia Masters and Malaysia Masters titles last year.
After this, Man will resume his partnership with Soh Wooi Yik on the World Tour, while Tee is slated to play with two different partners.
The 26-year-old will continue playing with Yap Roy King on the World Tour, where the pair have already won one title at last week’s Korea Masters.
But at the upcoming Asian Games, Tee will team up with Chia in the men’s doubles where Malaysia has not won a gold medal in 20-years.
Chia-Soh, meanwhile, will focus on their last eight World Championships clash against Chinese pair Hu Ke Yuan-Lin Xiang Yi.
A victory would put the 2022 world champs in the semis and guarantee them at least a bronze medal.
