Construction of the Darul Ehsan Aquatic Centre has reached around 30 to 40 percent completion, marking encouraging progress ahead of the 2026 edition of the Sukan Malaysia (SUKMA).
According to Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari, the aquatic complex is expected to be fully completed by June, allowing sufficient time for athletes to prepare before the national multi-sport event begins.

The facility, which reportedly costs around RM40 million, will serve as one of the key venues for aquatic disciplines such as swimming and diving during the games.
New Landmark for Aquatic Sports
Once completed, the Darul Ehsan Aquatic Centre is expected to become a major sporting landmark in Selangor, offering modern facilities capable of hosting both national and international competitions.
Beyond SUKMA 2026, the venue is also expected to play an important role in the long-term development of aquatic sports in Malaysia, providing training opportunities for elite athletes as well as emerging talents.
Overwhelming Response for Volunteers
Meanwhile, organisers have also received an overwhelming response from the public eager to volunteer for the 2026 SUKMA.
More than 30,000 applications have already been submitted, far exceeding the organisers’ initial requirement of about 5,000 volunteers to assist with the running of the event.
Amirudin expressed his appreciation for the strong interest shown by Malaysians, although he acknowledged that not everyone may be able to participate due to the limited number of available positions.
With construction of key venues progressing steadily and strong community support through volunteer participation, Selangor appears well on track to deliver one of the most vibrant editions of SUKMA in recent years.
