National men's singles shuttler Leong Jun Hao's campaign at the Badminton Asia Championships (BAC) came to an early end after a first-round defeat to Indonesia’s third seed, Jonatan Christie.

Competing at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Center, Leong showed promise in the opening stages of the first set, maintaining control before Jonatan found his rhythm towards the mid-game interval to secure a 21-13 win.

The challenge intensified in the second set as the Indonesian world number three dominated from the opening serve, leaving Leong unable to gain a foothold or reclaim the lead.

Despite his efforts, the Malaysian eventually succumbed to an 8-21 defeat, concluding the match in 36 minutes.

This early exit marks a challenging start for the national representative as he faced one of the tournament's top contenders.
