National top pairs Pearly Tan-M.Thinaah and Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik comfortably cleared their opening round matches at the Badminton Asia Championships on Wednesday.
Defending champions Chia-Soh were first to go through after a 21-15, 21-15 success over Chinese Taipei pair Wang Chi-lin-Chiu Hsiang-chieh whom they disposed after just 38-minutes.

The world number two pair will next go on to face Chinese pair Hu Ke Yuan-Lin Xiang Yi in the second round.
Tan-Thinaah were also dominant in their 21-14, 21-11 victory over a Hong Kong pair, and their 31-minute victory will next pit them against Chinese Taipei’s Hsu Yin-hui-Lin Jhih-yun.
In the women’s singles, K.Letshaana overcame India’s T.Sharma in straight games to advance to the next round, where she has a challenging task against South Korea’s Sim Yu-jin.
Wong Ling Ching, meanwhile, came within a whisker of beating former world champion P.V.Sindhu, but could not get over the line and succumbed to a 21-15, 11-21, 19-21 defeat.
