WBA super featherweight champion Gervonta Davis was arrested Friday morning after an altercation in Washington, D.C., over a $10,000 bar tab, according to multiple reports.
Davis, 23, and Ricardo Rodriguez, 25, were charged with misdemeanor simple assault, The Washington Post reported.
The incident occurred outside a nightspot, according to a police report, which said an officer witnessed the two arguing before a fight between Davis and Rodriguez broke out.
The spending spree was at Rosebar Lounge, TMZ reported.
Davis (20-0, 19 KOs) claimed the WBA super featherweight title in April with a TKO against Jesus Marcelo Andres Cuellar.
Davis asked his fans not to judge him based on media reports, tweeting: "They gonna paint me a bad picture every time."
Later Friday, Davis took to Twitter one more time to address the incident, declaring, "If I was fighting I would’ve got locked up for manslaughter NOT Disorderly Affray."
