A relatively issue-free Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway saw its first wreck taking out contending drivers coming off Turn 4 with 85 laps to go.

Kurt Busch and Chase Elliott were running side by side in ninth and 10th place, respectively, after a caution flag reset the field at the 1.5-mile track. Busch, driving on the inside of Elliott, appeared to loose grip in the corner and slide up the track and into the No. 9 car, sending both into the wall.

Elliott, who was easily the best of the Hendrick Motorsports cars, and Busch were spending most of their day in the top 12 before the wreck.

"I was just there in the wrong spot and the wrong situation and we are headed home early." Elliott told Fox Sports.

Still looking for his first career win, Elliott will have to wait until NASCAR heads to Phoenix's one-mile track next Sunday.
