Wasps fly-half Jimmy Gopperth has been ruled out for up to nine months after undergoing knee surgery.
Gopperth will miss the majority of the upcoming season following a reconstruction of his anterior cruciate ligament.
The prolific 35-year-old did the damage in a pre-season thrashing of Connacht and will be sidelined for at least six months.
A short update on the Premiership club's website stated: "Jimmy Gopperth: Has undergone an ACL reconstruction following an injury sustained in Connacht.
"Estimated absence - six to nine months."
Wasps will be relying on new recruits Lima Sopoaga and Billy Searle to stay fit after Danny Cipriani's switch to Gloucester.
Prop Jake Cooper-Woolley is unavailable for between six and eight weeks following surgery on a ruptured bicep.
