Wan Kuzain Wan Kamal made his Sporting Kansas City and Major League Soccer (MLS) debut against the Columbus Crew on Sunday.

The American-born Malaysian, who was signed as a homegrown player in April, came on in the 86th minute for Roger Espinoza in the match that finished 0-0.

According to the club's official website, having started nine matches for United Soccer League (USL) affiliate Swope Park Rangers (SPR), the 19-year-old also became the first player in club history to progress from the Sporting KC Academy to SPR to the Sporting KC first team.

Kuzain became the second player with Malaysian heritage to play in MLS after Sarawak-born Shaun Maloney, who turned out for the Chicago Fire in 2015.
