Sam Tomkins has been recalled to the England squad at the expense of Stefan Ratchford for the first Test against New Zealand on Saturday.

Tomkins has not played for his country since 2014, but the Catalan Dragons-bound full-back is set to return at the KCom Stadium on the back of winning the Super League Grand Final in his last appearance for Wigan Warriors.

There is more disappointment for Ratchford following Warrington Wolves' defeat to Wigan at Old Trafford as he misses out on a place in Wayne Bennett's 19-man squad.

Wing Tom Johnstone was omitted despite scoring a hat-trick on his England debut against France last week.

Johnstone's Wakefield Trinity team-mate Reece Lyne has also been overlooked along with Adam Milner and Joe Greenwood.

Oliver Gildart could make his debut after missing out against France as he prepared for Wigan's Grand Final triumph.

England squad:

John Bateman, George Burgess, Tom Burgess, Daryl Clark, Oliver Gildart, James Graham, Chris Hill, Josh Hodgson, Jonny Lomax, Tommy Makinson, Jermaine McGillvary, Richie Myler, Sean O'Loughlin, Mark Percival, Luke Thompson, Sam Tomkins, Elliott Whitehead, George Williams.
