Malaysian boccia player Chew Wei Lun had a Paralympic debut to remember after claiming a silver medal in Tokyo on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old, competing in the mixed individual BC1 (physical impairment) category, lost to defending champion David Smith 2-4 in the final.
The world number 11th, who was unbeaten en route to the final, including beating the higher-ranked Witsanu Huadpradit and Jung Sung-joon, made a bright start by taking the first end 2-0
However, Smith won the two subsequent ends 1-0 to level the score and make it a tense final round.
Smith then showed why he was the world number one and the most successful British boccia player in history as he closed the final with a 2-0 score and claimed his third Paralympic gold medal.
Chew contributed Malaysia's third official medal of the campaign after powerlifters Bonnie Bunyau Gustin and Jong Yee Khie delivered gold and silver medals respectively.
As for the bronze medal match, Brazil's Jose Carlos Chagas de Oliveira was victorious against Portuguese representative Andre Ramos, winning 8-2.
