Wednesday was all about the men's 200m at the Tokyo Olympic Stadium.

Andre De Grasse, as many tipped five years ago, was the man to succeed the legendary Usain Bolt, who had been champion for the last three Games before retiring, in the half lap race.

For Stats Perform's man on the ground, Peter Hanson, there was some international recognition...and another comedy stumble.

To find our more, read on in today's Daily Diary.

BACKING ANDRE IN THE WRONG RACE

I have to admit my predictions are often terrible.

For example, on Saturday I tipped De Grasse to win the men's 100m final...then tonight (Wednesday for me) I backed Noah Lyles to take gold in the 200m.

So, I had one right winner...in the wrong race...never ask me for betting tips folks!

INTERNATIONALLY REGONISED...

One of the beautiful things about being here in Tokyo is the truly international flavour of the world's media.

For instance, today I was getting off the shuttle bus for the Olympic I heard a shout of "Pedro!" – a nickname used only by my friends and some work mates.

A little confused I conversed with the chap – a photographer from Pakistan – and it turns out he knew me from "social media".

Finally, I'm getting the international recognition I deserve (Narrator: Peter has around 500 followers and is in the grand scheme of things pretty insignificant...).

WHOLESOME CONTENT

It has been pretty tough out in Tokyo at times what with the restrictions of movement, and the sort of Groundhog Day scenario of waking up, working, back to the hotel.

But it sort of pales in comparison to what the athletes are going through. Most have been kept away from their families for well over a month and that is understandably pretty difficult.

Which is why it was just so heart-warming to see Great Britain gymnast Max Whitlock, who won gold again on the pommel horse, surprised by being reunited with his daughter Willow at Heathrow Airport.

This is the kind of wholesome content we all need in our lives right now.

SH-OW!-ER TIME

If you've kept up regularly with this diary, you'll know by now that I'm unforgivably clumsy.

Yesterday saw two stumbles at the Olympic Stadium...well Wednesday brought a slip in the shower.

I took a step out, slipped on the wet floor, crashed the door open and so very nearly brought down the shower curtain.

I think the lack of sleep is really catching up with me...
