Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim has been named as royal advisor of Esports Malaysia (ESM).
The appointment was confirmed by the Crown Prince of Johor himself on his official Facebook page on Wednesday.
"Esports Malaysia would like to express our appreciation to HRH Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim for becoming a royal advisor for the association.
"His Royal Highness will advise and give ideas on how to take the Malaysian esports industry to a higher level in the future," read an official ESM statement.
It marked the first serious involvement in esports by Malaysian royalty, who have usually been involved in popular sports like football and hockey.
Tunku Ismail is also owner of Johor Darul Ta'zim, who recently won the Malaysian Super League title for the sixth consecutive year.
