The investigation into the incident which saw England's Ben Stokes arrested following a disturbance in Bristol in September has been concluded and passed to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for "charging advice".
Avon and Somerset Police confirmed the news on Wednesday, with Stokes having been released under investigation following an altercation outside a nightclub on September 25 that left a man with a fractured eye socket.
Doubts have lingered over the all-rounder's participation in the ongoing Ashes series, but this week he flew out to New Zealand, where he is expected to appear for first-class side Canterbury.
This latest development still leaves the 26-year-old in limbo over his Ashes hopes.
