The Bomba Fighters capped a memorable Sepak Takraw League (STL) debut season with the Division 1 title after beating the Putrajaya Cyborg in the promotion playoff final on Sunday.
At the Titiwangsa Stadium the two finalists, who had already secured their promotion to next season's Premier division by beating the Melaka Titans and the MASUM-UPM Knights respectively on Saturday, faced off for the second time this season.
The Fighters, who lost their Group B encounter to the Cyborg earlier in the week, ensured there was no repeat defeat with a resilient performance to clinch a 2-0 victory.
Besides getting promoted to the top division next season, both teams will also compete at the year-end Champions Cup.
Meanwhile, the Knights secured a silver lining in their failed promotion bid as they overcame the Titans 2-1 to finish third in the 2020 Division 1 season.
The STL action continues this week with the Premier division, kicking off with an opening match between defending champions Perak Bison and the Selangor Pistons.
