The Bomba Fighters bagged their maiden win in the Sepak Takraw League (STL) after beating the Kedah Eagles in a Division 1 Group B encounter at the Titiwangsa Stadium on Wednesday.
It was a hard-fought win for the new team, who lost to the Putrajaya Cyborg on their debut a day earlier, as they defeated the Eagles 2-0.
The result meant Kedah failed to qualify for this weekend's promotion playoffs, and the Fighters stay in contention as they are now level on points with PSM Mavericks, their Thursday and final group opponents, in Group B.
Meanwhile, the result of the upcoming showdown will have no bearing on the Cyborg, who secured their playoff berth with two wins out of two.
In Group A, the Terengganu Turtles overcame their internal crisis and kept their promotion chances alive by beating the Perlis Vipers 2-1.
They next take on the Melaka Titans, who remained as the group leaders with a 2-0 win over the MASUM-UPM Knights, on Thursday.
WEDNESDAY'S RESULTS
Bomba Fighters beat Kedah Eagles 21-19, 21-16
Putrajaya Cyborg beat PSM Mavericks 16-21, 21-16, 21-12
Terengganu Turtles beat Perlis Vipers 21-15, 13-21, 21-15
Melaka Titans beat MASUM-UPM Knights 21-17, 21-14
