Jordan Spieth served up a stunning third-round performance at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am to move within a shot of the lead.

Spieth began Saturday five-under par, 11 strokes behind 36-hole leader Seamus Power.

But he ended the day a shot ahead of Power and with the top of the leaderboard in his sights after a sensational reminder of his quality.

The three-time major champion was exceptional with his iron play throughout a round that saw him get 12 looks inside of 20 feet for birdie.

He holed eight birdies with just one bogey, the highlight of the round coming at the sixth, a remarkable 200-yard blind approach shot at the sixth setting him up for eagle.

Spieth is alongside Patrick Cantlay and Joel Dahmen on 14 under, with Beau Hossler, Andrew Putnam and Tom Hoge in a three-way tie for the lead at 15 under.

Having gone eight under in each of his first two rounds, Power endured a significantly more trying day as his lead slipped away.

Power carded a three-over 74 playing the Monterey Peninsula course and will quickly need to rediscover his form if he is to claim a win that would clinch a place at The Masters.

Hossler moved into contention for his first PGA Tour win with his second successive round of 65.

He produced a blemish-free round that featured a 48-foot putt for eagle at the sixth and saw him birdie four of the final six holes on the back nine.
