Hashim Amla was ruled out of South Africa's Cricket World Cup match against Bangladesh after taking a blow to the head in the defeat to England.
Amla was struck on the grille of his helmet by a rapid short ball from Jofra Archer in the opening match of the tournament at The Oval on Thursday.
While he did bat again in that game after initially retiring hurt, the right-hander has not recovered sufficiently to face the Tigers at the same venue on Sunday, with David Miller taking his place in the team.
Proteas team manager Dr Mohammed Moosajee said: "Hashim hasn't fully recovered from the blow sustained to the helmet during the match against England on Thursday and is not available for selection for the match today.
"With the quick turnaround between the two matches, he is being rested as a precaution, based on our post-match re-assessment. We are hopeful that he will make a full recovery to be available for selection for our next match against India."
There was one other change to the South Africa team, with Chris Morris replacing Dwaine Pretorius.
