Only 16 games stand between Cameron Smith and the Melbourne Storm captain celebrating 400 NRL appearances.

Smith has played 384 games in the competition but the Storm great is poised to be the first player to reach the 400-game milestone after signing a two-year contract.

The 35-year-old has won two premierships and two Dally M Medals since making his debut in 2002.
