Mikaela Shiffrin completed a FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup treble in Soldeu on Thursday as she added the super-G globe to her overall and slalom titles.

For the first time in her outstanding career, Shiffrin lifted a third season crown in Andorra, the super-G title her first in a speed event.

Shiffrin knew finishing in fourth would be enough to secure her top place in the discipline standings, and she achieved just that as Viktoria Rebensburg took the race win from Tamara Tippler and Federica Brignone.

Tina Weirather's failure to finish, plus Nicole Schmidhofer finishing level with Shiffrin, meant that in the end the American was guaranteed the title no matter where she placed.

"I've dreamed about someday being able to win a globe in super-G but I really wasn't expecting something like this, this season," said Shiffrin, who could add a fourth globe in Sunday's giant slalom.

"For sure there was a lot of tough races on the speed side, a lot of cancellations but I was in a position to have this opportunity today and I am so happy."

While Shiffrin celebrates a 10th World Cup title, Dominik Paris claimed his first with victory in the men's super-G.

Paris had a 44-point advantage ahead of the race but showed no signs of nerves with a superb run that earned him a third super-G win of the season.

The Italian finished in one minute 20.42 seconds to triumph by 0.15s from Mauro Caviezel, with Vincent Kriechmayr completing the podium.

Both Caviezel and Kriechmayr could have pipped Paris to the globe but the latter's victory – his second in as many days in Soldeu after winning Wednesday's downhill – meant he could not be denied.
