Malaysian silat exponent Faizul Nasir was taken to the hospital after he was knocked unconscious at the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines.
He received a kick in the face by Dines Dumaan, who was representing the host nation, while competing in the 55kg category of the men's tanding event.
As he was unable to continue, his opponent was awarded the victory.
One of the top silat artists in Malaysia, Faizul was a gold medal winner at the 2015 SEA Games in Singapore and repeated the feat in Kuala Lumpur two years ago.
He also won silver at the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia.
