Krisnan Inu crossed for a double as Salford Red Devils surprised Warrington Wolves 22-12 in the Super League on Friday, while Hull KR proved far too good for the struggling Leeds Rhinos.

Seventh-placed Salford produced the upset of the round by downing Warrington, who sit second, at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Ryan Lannon got Salford going with a fourth-minute try and the boot of Inu helped them into an 8-6 lead at the break. Inu then added a pair of tries in the second period and Kris Welham also crossed in a comfortable road victory.

Warrington are now 10 points adrift of table-toppers St Helens, who thrashed Wigan Warriors 32-10.

Tommy Makinson scored a double for the winners in the local derby.

At the other end of the table, Hull KR stormed to a 14-0 lead and never looked back against the Rhinos, eventually winning 32-16. Kane Linnett crossed for a double for the victors at Headingley, while former Rhinos legend Danny McGuire proved instrumental and was named man of the match.

"We've worked hard. We're in a tough position but to come here and play like that ... really positive times," McGuire told Sky Sports after making his 400th Super League appearance.

"You've got to turn up and perform in games like this and I thought our boys were really good."

Eight-time Super League champions Leeds sit 10th, only above second-last Hull KR on points difference. London Broncos remain two points adrift of that pair and Huddersfield Giants, who are also firmly in the relegation mix after going down 32-28 at home to Catalans Dragons.

The Giants trailed 32-12 with 17 minutes remaining but forced a grandstand finish with three late tries. Sam Tomkins scored a first-half hat-trick and kicked four goals in a 20-point haul for the visitors.

While Huddersfield, Leeds and Hull KR all sit on 16 points, Wakefield Trinity missed a chance to extend their two-point gap on the trio as Castleford Tigers prevailed 36-16, James Clare claiming a treble for the victors.
