Russia will be barred from qualifying for EURO 2024, UEFA announced on Tuesday.

The latest announcement dealt another blow to Russian football, after the country and its football clubs were banned from UEFA and FIFA competitions since Russia invaded Ukraine in February.

On top of the clubs' involvement in the UEFA Champions League and Europa League, it already resulted in the national men's team not being able to qualify for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup and participate in the UEFA Nations League.

Russia were also banned from the Women's Euro 2022, subsequently being replaced by Portugal.

"All Russian teams are currently suspended following the decision of the UEFA Executive Committee of 28 February 2022, which was further confirmed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on 15 July 2022.

"Russia is therefore not included in the UEFA European Football Championship 2022-24 qualifying draw," read an official statement from the European football governing body.

The qualifying draw for EURO 2024 will take place on October 9 in Frankfurt, Germany.
