Rovers take Hull derby honours to climb off bottom

Matt Parcell marked his debut by scoring the clinching try as Hull KR climbed off the foot of Super League with a derby victory over Hull FC.

Rovers were holding a slender lead until on-loan hooker Parcell made the points safe, sealing an 18-10 win with his 79th-minute converted score.

Hull's Joe Westerman caught the eye in the closing stages when he appeared to dislocate a knee before administering self-doctoring, banging it back in place.

It was a bad night though for third-placed Hull who began well enough, taking a ninth-minute lead through Bureta Faraimo after Marc Sneyd kicked for the left corner. Sneyd added the extras.

A stirring run from Adam Quinlan set up the reply from Rovers six minutes later, when he darted from midfield and played a low kick into the path of Ben Crooks to storm over.

Ryan Shaw booted the extra two points and did so again after Joel Tomkins collected Josh Drinkwater's kick to nudge Rovers ahead early in the second half.

Andre Savelio pulled four points back for Hull but Sneyd missed the goal, with Rovers taking a 12-10 lead into the closing stages.

Parcell then had his moment of glory, the midweek arrival from Leeds Rhinos becoming an instant hero for Tony Smith's side.

Leeds sink to the bottom of the table, with Rovers climbing above them and London Broncos to reach 10th in the table.
