Ritu “The Indian Tigress” Phogat left her family in India to pursue a career as a professional mixed martial artist in Singapore, where she now trains out of Evolve MMA and competes for ONE Championship

Phogat’s MMA career has taken off, but the distance and recent travel restrictions have stopped her from taking part in the happier moments that come with being close to family.

On 11 January, for instance, Phogat’s sister, Babita Phogat – an Indian Wrestling Champion and Olympian – delivered a healthy baby boy.

“The Indian Tigress” couldn’t be there in person to share the joy of her sister’s emotional day, but she did send her sibling warm regards and celebrated the birth of her second nephew from afar.

“Baby nephew #2 has arrived,” Phogat wrote. “Super excited for you @babitaphogatofficial. Can’t wait to meet and hug this little bundle of joy.”

Since leaving India for Singapore, the Evolve MMA standout has gone undefeated in The Home Of Martial Arts, scoring three finishes and one decision win in just over a year.

In her last Circle appearance at ONE: BIG BANG in December, “The Indian Tigress” starched ONE veteran Jomary “The Zamboanginian Fighter” Torres in the first round with elbows.

And with talks of the ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix possibly happening this year, we may see Phogat as one of the entrants in the tournament.

If that doesn’t happen, however, we could witness the Indian star battle a top-five atomweight next, as Phogat has already proven that she needs stiffer competition.
