Amid the silence of the current lockdown, podcasts have continued to make a lot of noise.

Podcasts have become a popular choice for many people to stay connected and keep themselves entertained during this time. Rahul “The Kerala Krusher” Raju is one of those people.

The Indian lightweight contender, who is based in Singapore, frequently tunes in to his favorite podcasts on health, fitness, and martial arts.

Here, “The Kerala Krusher” reveals his two favorite shows.

The Model Health Show

The Model Health Show is a fun, entertaining, enlightening look at health and fitness.

It is hosted by world-renowned author and nutritionist Shawn Stevenson, who breaks down the minutiae of health and fitness concepts into easy to understand chunks for listeners.

As a professional mixed martial artist, Raju found the topics on rest and recovery extremely relevant to his daily routine.

“Getting enough sleep and rest is so important, “Raju said. “Surprisingly, I learned that recovery is actually more important than diet.”

Stevenson also discusses important topics like mental focus and anxiety management. New episodes are released every Wednesday and Raju recommends everyone to check them out.

“Honestly after listening to him, I became much more interested in other topics on his Health Theory podcasts,” Raju said.

Honey Badger Hour

Hosted by none other than close mentor, friend, teacher, and current ONE Championship featherweight Emilio “The Honey Badger” Urrutia, it is little surprise why Honey Badger Hour ranks among Raju’s favorite podcasts.

“I definitely have to give a shout out to my former coach Emilio,” Raju said. “I learned a lot from him in my early years when he was with Juggernaut Fight Club. It’s great that he started this podcast because he has this great funny personality that I think people will really enjoy when they tune in.”

The Miami born Urrutia, who moved to Singapore before landing in Phuket with the famed Tiger Muay Thai (TMT) team, is one of the leading martial artists in Asia.

In Honey Badger Hour, Urrutia regales with humorous tales of his travels in Asia and offers unique insights into the mixed martial arts scene across the continent.

“I really enjoy the quality of his podcasts, because he not only talks from his own experience but also allows others to share theirs,” Raju said.

Urrutia has a never-ending carousel of guests and personalities, which adds an interesting dynamic to the conversation. These have included wrestling greats like The Hickman Brothers, TMT teammate, and martial-artist-turned-screenwriter Brad “Quake” Riddell.

“It is always better to listen to others who are sharing their knowledge and point of view that is related to your job scope,” Raju said.
