The deal came to an end because the Suns believed they were getting Dillon Brooks back from the Grizzlies as part of the deal.

Initially, ESPN reported the Suns would receive guard Austin Rivers from the Wizards, and forwards Wayne Selden and MarShon Brooks from the Grizzlies along with a draft pick from Memphis.

However, the Suns thought they were getting Dillon Brooks who the Grizzlies later said they would never have included.

Now, the deal is dead.

Or maybe it's not.

According to The Athletic, Grizzlies owner Robert Pera directly spoke with Suns owner Robert Sarver about Dillon Brooks. The same report says the deal may be resurrected in some form.

Last thing: another source says this reached ownership, with Sarver and Grizz owner Robert Pera talking w/each other. And the name they discussed was Dillon. So: no guarantees, of course, but the smart money is on this deal getting resurrected in some form, quickly.

A separate report from The Athletic confirmed that.

The Grizzlies and Suns discussed Dillon Brooks directly, multiple league sources tell The Athletic.
