The Grizzlies could be close to trading Marc Gasol.

Memphis is in "strong talks" to send the center to the Hornets, according to a report from The Athletic.

Gasol will sit out Tuesday's game against the Timberwolves, as Memphis and Charlotte are structuring the framework of a potential deal, the report says.

The Grizzlies have reportedly been shopping both Gasol and point guard Mike Conley Jr. Memphis has lost eight of its last 10 games and sits 14th in the Western Conference standings. The Hornets are 26-26 and enter play Tuesday holding the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Gasol, a three-time All-Star, is averaging 15.7 points, 8.6 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game in 2018-19.

The NBA trade deadline is Feb. 7.
