Ulis was a rotation player for the Suns as a rookie after they picked him in the second round of the 2016 NBA Draft. He averaged 7.8 points and 4.4 assists in 23.4 minutes per game last season.

The Suns had been attempting to deal Ulis, according to a report from Arizona sports station 98.7. But they decided to cut him after failing to find a trade partner.

Suns pushed Ulis deadline back a week in an attempt to seek a trade but were unable to make a deal therefore have waived him.
