The Heat's goal is to re-sign free-agent guard Dwyane Wade and forward Udonis Haslem, according to Miami's president Pat Riley.

Riley told reporters Thursday he has a "good feeling" Haslem will be back, while also revealing he will pick up his efforts to get Wade to return.

"There's not been any announcement on that. It's just a gut feeling about UD and what he wants to do," Riley said, via the Sun Sentinel.

Haslem, 38, has spent his entire NBA career with Miami. Over the past three seasons, he has appeared in a total of 67 games and averaged a career-low 0.6 points with 0.7 rebounds per game last season.

As for Wade, Riley said he intends to meet with the veteran sooner rather than later.

"We've been in constant communication with Leon Rose, his attorney," Riley added. "Now that I'm back, in town, and we're really ramping up for training camp, I know Dwyane's in California right now with the marketing team, getting ready for the season, so I'll have a conversation with him somewhere shortly.

"I texted him after he got his long-term deal with [Chinese apparel company] Li Ning. We want him back. He and Udonis, we want 'em back, but we're giving 'em space. We know our young guys and we need to anchor our young team with a veteran presence of the both of them."

Wade is still mulling a decision on retirement, but indicated earlier this month if he plays basketball next season "it will be in a Miami uniform."

Wade, 36, played for the Bulls in 2016 and signed a one-year, $2.3 million contract with the Cavaliers last September. Wade, however, appeared in just 46 games for Cleveland before he was dealt back to the Heat in February.
