Jack Miller mastered wet conditions in Le Mans to record the quickest lap in practice for the French MotoGP at Le Mans on Friday.

Marc VDS rider Miller's circuit of one minute 37.467 seconds on slicks was 1.288secs faster than Marc Marquez's fastest lap.

The Australian had led by over three seconds before a change of tyres enabled defending champion Marquez to cut the gap on a drying track.

Johann Zarco was third on the timesheets in his homeland at the end of FP2, with championship leader Valentino Rossi 3.427secs off the pace in eighth.

Ducati's Andrea Dovizioso was fastest in FP2, leading the way with a lap of 1:41.673.

Marquez was once again second, 0.043secs slower than the Italian, with Danilo Petrucci third and Miller seventh.

Rossi, among the riders to offer their support Nicky Hayden after the former MotoGP was left in an "extremely serious" condition following a cycling accident on Wednesday, was 10th in the second session.
