Maybank has announced a renewal of its sponsorship deal with Malaysian golfer Gavin Green.

The 24-year-old, who became the first Malaysian and the second youngest golfer to win the Asian Tour Order of Merit in December, was first appointed as Maybank’s ASEAN Ambassador in 2015 for a three-year commitment.

The sponsorship renewal, which was made just days before his appearance at the upcoming 2018 EurAsia Cup as part of Team Asia from January 12 to 14, will see the homegrown professional continue to receive support from Maybank in further honing his skills and competing at an international level for another three years.

"It is truly an exceptional honour to continue my long-standing partnership with Maybank as its ASEAN Ambassador in the game of golf," said Green.

"It has definitely opened up many doors for me throughout my career as it is a great platform for me to meet other world-class players and represent our beautiful country, Malaysia."

Speaking on behalf of Maybank, Abdul Farid Alias heaped praise on Green for his rapid rise in the game.

"More than a decade ago, we decided to focus our efforts towards identifying, training and nurturing the best golfing talents we could find in ASEAN," said the Maybank Group President and CEO.

"Today, we are starting to see those efforts bear fruit with new and upcoming golfers from Malaysia and the region making waves at an international level.

"Gavin Green is an example of what we see as an effective talent development initiative where Maybank empowers dedicated, focused and ambitious young talents and help them reach new heights."
