Maroons boss Walters rules himself out of Titans job

Queensland head coach Kevin Walters ruled himself out of the running to fill the Gold Coast Titans vacancy following Garth Brennan's sacking.
The Titans axed Brennan on Sunday, with Gold Coast bottom of the NRL after winning just four of their 16 games in 2019.
Walters immediately emerged as a candidate to replace Brennan but the Maroons boss quickly distanced himself from the position.
"I'm committed to coaching Queensland - that's what I want to do next year," Walters said. "I'm not interested in doing both [NRL and Origin].
"That's where my heart lies. I am so passionate about Queensland. I want to get that right.
"The last couple of years we've lost and that doesn't sit easily with me. It was easy for me [to decide to stay]."

Walters watched Queensland lose the State of Origin series for the second successive year following New South Wales' dramatic 26-20 win in Sydney on Wednesday.
The 51-year-old – who was coach of Catalans Dragons in 2009-10 – succeeded Mal Meninga in 2015.
"I always said if the timing was right and the position was right, that I would [look at an NRL job]," Walters said. "I just feel at the moment there is more work to do with Queensland. I started it and I want to finish it."
