LaMarcus Aldridge is looking to extend his stay in San Antonio.
The Spurs veteran forward recently became engaged in contract extension discussions with the team, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported.
Aldridge signed a four-year contract worth $80 million with San Antonio in July 2015 after spending the previous nine seasons in Portland. With $21.4 million remaining on his deal, he is eligible to exercise an opt-out option in his contract for the 2018-19 season and become a free agent if an agreement is not reached by the 11:59 deadline Monday.
Should a negotiation be made by midnight, Aldridge would be able to opt into the $22.3 million player option on his 2018-19 contract and extend his deal for a maximum of three more years.
Aldridge, 32, was selected by the Bulls with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft but immediately had his rights traded to the Trail Blazers. The five-time All-Star averaged 17.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game last season, though he averaged career lows in the playoffs with 16.5 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game.
