Kawhi Leonard is the big fish for the Lakers, but they’re also eyeing free agent role players to place around what would be an unmatched big three of Leonard, LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Arguably the team’s most intriguing target, former Warriors forward Andre Iguodala, wasn’t an option until Sunday night when Golden State traded him to Memphis to clear cap space for D’Angelo Russell after reportedly agreeing to a sign-and-trade with the Nets.

Iguodala is likely to reach a buyout with the Grizzlies and become an unrestricted free agent. At that point, the Lakers will be the favored landing spot, according to Fox Sports.

Kawhi to Lakers rumblings getting stronger & stronger. Iguodala likely to join Lakers after Memphis buyout. Danny Green & Seth Curry in Lakers’ scope. Lakers offered Rondo vet minimum & 24 hours to decide. Lakers on verge of building powerhouse.

The Russell move shocked NBA fans who expected the Lakers to make a strong play for the 23-year-old if Leonard spurned them. However, Iguodala didn’t seem surprised he was shipped out of the Bay Area as he sent out a string of cryptic tweets Sunday night before the news broke.

Ever been so tired you don’t know where you goin next???

According to Yahoo, Iguodala was informed by the Warriors last week that he would likely be moved to clear cap space if Kevin Durant didn’t re-sign

Iguodala, 35, joined the Warriors in 2013-14 and was an integral member of their rotation during their run of five straight finals appearances. He was named Finals MVP when the team took home its first championship of the era in 2014-15.

Iguodala took a step back offensively this season, averaging 5.7 points and 3.7 rebounds while shooting 33.3 percent from 3-point range. Iguodala, however, was still a solid defender and secondary playmaker.
