Sam Konstas will make his Test debut for Australia when they meet India on Boxing Day in Melbourne.
The 19-year-old will become the youngest Test debutant for Australia since current captain Pat Cummins made his bow at the age of 18 in 2011.
Konstas is set to be the 468th player to represent Australia in the longest format.
However, Travis Head, who is the leading run scorer in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and was named Player of the Match in the last two Tests, is a fitness doubt.
It was announced on Tuesday that he had suffered a quadriceps strain while batting during Australia's second innings in the last match.
Coach Andrew McDonald remains "really confident" Head will be able to play on Thursday as they await medical clearance to ensure his movement was not affected.
The series is level at 1-1 heading into the fourth Test.
