John Beilein has been a college basketball coach for 40 years, and he isn't going to switch tracks now.

Beilein said Tuesday on Twitter that he is excited to continue as Michigan's coach "next season and in the years to come". The 65-year-old had at least one interview with Detroit Pistons officials about the NBA team's vacant coaching job and was rumored to be at the top of the list along with former Raptors coach Dwane Casey.

Beilein has worked continuously as a college head coach since 1978, with stops at a variety of schools before landing at Michigan in 2007. He led the Wolverines to the NCAA championship game last season and has been in talks with the school about a contract extension.

The Pistons courtship figures to help his cause in those discussions. He is currently signed through the 2020-21 season at $3.37 million per year.

Former Michigan forward Juwan Howard, now an assistant with the Heat, also reportedly interviewed for the Pistons job.
